Why choose a WALU

Why choose WALU

We’re about quality, not quantity.

In a world where manufacturers are looking to produce cheaper products to compete on price, WALU is making a stand for quality. We’re still keeping our prices down, but we’re not doing it by skimping on quality. We’re committed to building quality alfresco furniture for Australian conditions.

We check all components with our Hans.

We don’t import off-the-shelf products. WALU’s managing director, Hans Ilse is a qualified engineer. Hans is involved in product design, material sourcing, and the quality control of the manufacturing process.

Hans believes materials should be sourced based on quality, not cost. It’s a belief that can be seen in all of WALU’s products and it’s one of the reasons our products long outlast the rest.

It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

A lot of the components that make up our furniture are thicker and stronger than the components found in competitors’ products. So it’s no surprise that the majority of our products come with more impressive warranties, too.

Better for you. Better for the environment.

The materials used in our products are a lot more pure and natural than those used in some of the cheaper furniture available on the market. Unlike those inferior products, our quality products are 100% recyclable.

Benefits of WALU Umbrellas

WALU Umbrellas

Our umbrellas, or parasols, are designed with the elements in mind.

They’re designed and engineered to handle whatever the Australia weather can throw at them - wind, rain, hail and some seriously harsh sunshine. To combat the elements, we’ve ensured the elements used in the making of our umbrellas are up to the task.

Why choose a WALU

30% Stronger Structure
All structural members of WALU umbrellas are made from alloy that is 30% stronger than the alloy used in regular umbrella construction.

Thicker Frames & Poles
For added strength, the ribs have a minimum wall thickness of 1.6mm and the centre pole has a minimum wall thickness of 2.2mm. The wind can get pretty strong around here, but our frames are built to take it.

Marine Grade Stainless Steel
To make our umbrellas even more resistant to rust and corrosion all nuts, bolts and the additional hardware are marine grade stainless steel.

Carbylex Components
The non-metallic components on the frame are made from Carbylex – a fiber reinforced polymer that has similar structural properties as aluminium. In other words, our umbrellas are lighter to carry, and structurally stronger than standard outdoor umbrellas.

Clever Cleats
All WALU umbrellas come standard with an easy-to-use pulley system and a cam-cleat locking mechanism. This makes it really easy to open and close, plus it ensures that the canopy remains taut and minimizes “canopy flap” in strong winds. It’s a far superior mechanism than the inserted pin system that regular umbrellas rely on and to keep them open and locked in a taut position.

Colourful Options
There are a number of finishes available for the aluminium frames –anodized silver, dark bronze, or powder coated white and graphite.

Custom & Branded Canopies
If you’re looking for specific colours, we can have it custom made. We also offer branded umbrellas for special occasions or marketing events.

We’ve passed the test of time.
To demonstrate our product’s quality, we set up 4 umbrellas on the roof of our coastal warehouse. The umbrellas were subject to 120km/h winds, heavy rain and some serious sunshine. It’s been two years since we begun the testing and the same umbrellas still stand strong today.

Benefits of WALU Weather Wicker

WALU Weather WickerThicker Frames
All of our frames are made from strong aluminium tubes that are a minimum 1.6 mm thick– that’s almost twice the thickness of the majority of our competitors’ products.

Added Corrosion Protection
We improve corrosion protection by powder coating our frames prior to weaving. You may not be able to see it, but in years to come you will notice how it makes your wicker furniture last longer.

3 Year Material Warranty
The weaving material used in WALU’s wicker outdoor furniture comes with a standard 3-year warranty. We offer that because we want you to be as confident as we are about your wicker furniture’s longevity.

Quality Wicker
The raw weaving material used in our wicker furniture is sourced from Bayer Germany. The material is UV stable with a colour that is solid throughout – so when you accidentally scratch the product, no unsightly white marks appear like those commonly found on inferior products.

Benefits of WALU Cast Aluminium

WALU Cast Aluminium

Elegant Style. Superior strength.

Much like wrought iron furniture, cast aluminium furniture is both elegant looking and extremely strong. WALU’s range of cast aluminium furniture has a number of features that make it a stand out for both looks and strength.

Unique Designs
Because we design and oversee the manufacturing of our outdoor furniture, our designs are unique to WALU.

Quality Components
We’re strict on quality and perform quality control checks on all materials that are used to make up our outdoor furniture. We even run our own foundry to control the quality of aluminium used in our products.

Select Alloys
The aluminium used in our cast aluminium furniture is very similar to that found in a BMW wheel rim. That gives you an idea of the strength and durability of our furniture.

Structurally Sound
All of our chairs are fully welded, not pieced together. So you can sit comfortably knowing that there’s no nuts or bolts that could work themselves loose over time.

ANSI/BIFMA Safety & Performance Approved
Our chairs’ safety, durability, and structural adequacy meet ANSI/BIFMA Safety & Performance Standards.

Ideal for Commercial Use
The strength and durability of our chairs and furniture make them ideal to meet the demands of commercial use.

Added Corrosion Protection
Our outdoor furniture is powder coated using UV stable materials. To make the aluminium components more corrosion resistant, all products go through a 5 stage pre-treatment prior to powder coating.

UV & Weather Resistant Material
All non-aluminium components used in WALU products are made from UV and weather resistant materials. That means they’ll last longer in the harsh Australian sun.

Marine Grade Stainless Steel
All hardware used is made from 316 marine grade stainless steel. That ensures our furniture is even more resistant to rust and corrosion.

Colourful Options
We now have a selection of over 50 different colours, so you can pick and choose different finishing’s to match your style.
